Travel Manager – Amentum OCONUS

Job Overview

The Travel Manager will oversee travel arrangements, including flights, hotels, car rentals, visas, and more, ensuring efficient and streamlined travel processes. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders, external travel agencies, and internal teams, with a strong focus on customer experience.


Key Responsibilities

Travel Coordination & Supervision:

  • Manage all aspects of travel for Amentum program employees, including flights, accommodations, and car rentals via designated travel agencies (DTA).
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Travel Regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee VIP travel arrangements as required.

Team & Vendor Management:

  • Lead and coordinate a team of travel associates/coordinators to provide top-tier travel services.
  • Regularly engage with airlines, hotels, and travel agencies to negotiate preferred rates and corporate deals.
  • Arrange quarterly meetings with DTAs to evaluate performance and negotiate cost-saving measures.

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare monthly reports on travel expenses, bookings, and vendor payments.
  • Maintain and update SharePoint records for contracts, invoices, and hotel payments.
  • Review and authorize purchase orders, blanket purchase agreements, and vendor payments before submission to finance.
  • Ensure compliance with travel-related regulations and internal policies.

Process Improvement & Automation:

  • Work towards automation of travel processes and oversee the daily updating of travel tracking systems.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies to optimize travel expenses.

Customer Service & Issue Resolution:

  • Address and resolve travel-related complaints and inquiries from employees.
  • Regularly update teams on changes in airport procedures, visa policies, and airline regulations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Meet with program managers and key personnel to understand specific travel requirements.
  • Ensure seamless communication and coordination between departments.

Qualifications & Skills

???? Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Two (2) years in a related field can be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.

???? Experience:

  • 6-8 years of experience in a travel managerial/supervisory role.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Experience in managing travel agencies, airlines, hotels, and logistics providers.

???? Skills Required:
✔ Strong leadership and team management abilities.
✔ Expertise in travel business practices, facility planning, and cost control.
✔ Ability to analyze data, negotiate contracts, and optimize travel arrangements.
✔ Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with all levels of the organization.

???? Work Environment & Travel:

  • Primarily office-based with regular office hours.
  • May require attending calls with global counterparts outside regular office hours.
  • No travel required, unless job demands it.
