Job Description:

A Penetration Tester (also known as an ethical hacker) is responsible for performing authorized simulated cyberattacks on computer systems to evaluate their security. The primary goal is to identify system vulnerabilities and weaknesses, as well as strengths, in order to conduct a complete risk assessment.

Penetration testers conduct application, network, system, and infrastructure tests to expose weaknesses and vulnerabilities in security systems. They also advise organizations on methods to fix or lower security risks.

Responsibilities:

Penetration Testing: Perform formal penetration tests on web-based applications, networks, and computer systems.
Security Assessments: Conduct physical security assessments of servers, systems, and network devices.
Tool Development: Design and create new penetration tools and tests.
Vulnerability Detection: Probe for vulnerabilities in web applications, fat/thin client applications, and standard applications.
Exploit Identification: Pinpoint methods that attackers could use to exploit weaknesses and logic flaws.
Social Engineering: Employ social engineering techniques to uncover security holes (e.g., poor user security practices or password policies).
Risk Assessment: Incorporate business considerations (e.g., loss of earnings due to downtime) into security strategies.
Reporting: Research, document, and discuss security findings with management and IT teams.
Security Solutions: Review and define requirements for information security solutions and continuously improve security services.

Required Skills:

Experience: Minimum of 7+ years in security applications and systems, with 5+ years of experience in Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST).
Penetration Tools: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience with both automated and manual penetration testing tools.
Technical Skills: Advanced information security technical skills, including web application penetration testing, secure code review, and static code analysis.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the banking or financial services industry is preferred.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Work Environment: Ability to work on weekends and holidays as needed.

Desired Skills:

Security Standards Knowledge: Understanding of information security industry standards and government regulations.
Malicious Use Cases: Experience developing and reviewing malicious use cases and threat models.
Large Enterprise Experience: Experience working in a large enterprise environment.
