A website designer or web designer develops and designs websites, applications and other digital products. They work closely with project managers, marketers and business heads to understand the brand, products and customers – to create websites that aligns with the business identity, vision and needs.
The primary role of web designers entails conceptualising and creating compelling and easy-to-navigate UX and UI designs. They also research new design technologies to create wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes and visual designs for digital collaterals that are efficient, intuitive and engaging. In addition to designing websites, they make other digital assets like email newsletters, social media graphics and display ads.
Web designers are also responsible for a website’s overall layout, user-friendliness and aesthetics. Unlike website developers, they focus more on design than programming. A web designer will oversee a website’s visual aspects and how it looks and feels to users. They also ensure that websites are compatible with modern browsers.
