The Team: Morningstar DBRS – Credit Operations Mumbai Analytics

The Credit Operations Mumbai Analytics team supports the efficient and effective delivery of credit ratings to the market. We work closely with global stakeholders to build impactful solutions and ensure a streamlined rating process.


The Role: Sovereign Analyst

We are seeking a motivated individual with strong analytical skills to support the global Sovereign Ratings team. You will gain hands-on experience in credit ratings analysis while assisting analysts based in North America & Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of credit analysis and rating methodologies.
  • Monitor news, announcements, and material events impacting credit ratings.
  • Populate and maintain spreadsheets with economic and financial data on national, regional, and local governments, as well as non-profits and public sector enterprises.
  • Conduct data investigations and research to support analytical work.
  • Assist in preparing rating committee materials, ensuring all required documentation is received.
  • Help senior analysts adhere to regulatory requirements, including detailed record-keeping.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory policies, procedures, and company guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s/Postgraduate degree in International Affairs, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in macroeconomics, monetary & fiscal policies, and foreign policy.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in an analytical role within public policy or financial services is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting concepts.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP/GASB and/or IFRS/IPSAS accounting rules is strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
