Function Description: Control Management – Centre of Excellence (COE)

The Control Management COE plays a vital role in ensuring the soundness and efficiency of the lines of business under Global Commercial Services (GCS) through control testing and risk assessment.


Purpose of the Role

This role is part of the Control Management – Centre of Excellence team and is responsible for performing control testing across multiple business functions within GCS.


Key Responsibilities

???? Control Testing & Risk Assessment

  • Support the strategic implementation of control testing related to Process Risk Self-Assessment.
  • Identify issues and control deficiencies, assess their impact, and collaborate with business and control partners to implement appropriate mitigation actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Operational Risk Governance Group, Control Management, and American Express Compliance standards regarding documentation, testing, and certification.
  • Conduct end-to-end risk assessments, monitoring, and reporting.

???? Collaboration & Compliance

  • Work closely with key control teams, including Operational Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit, to ensure a well-controlled business environment.
  • Support the scheduling and execution of control testing, including regulatory exam requests.

???? Process Improvement & Data Analysis

  • Analyze business risks and identify areas for process improvement and risk reduction.
  • Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and metric reporting to communicate risk trends effectively.

  • Capable of delivering clear and concise presentations to stakeholders.

  • Maintain high accuracy in risk assessments and reporting.
  • Ensure deadlines and commitments are met efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

???? Education & Background

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in internal control testing, operational risk, and business self-testing.

???? Technical & Platform Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in ARCHER is a plus.

???? Industry & Business Knowledge

  • Understanding of Global Commercial Services (GCS) business processes, products, and policies is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

???? Knowledge of MS Power Platform, SharePoint, and Tableau.
???? Experience in process governance, risk analysis, and remediation planning.
