Role Overview

As part of the First Line of Defense, this role is responsible for monitoring customer-facing interactions to ensure compliance with AEMP 88 and GCS Business Conduct Policy requirements. The candidate will play a vital role in ensuring effective business self-testing, risk assessment, and compliance adherence.


Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Compliance:

  • Conduct Business Self-Testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk programs and controls.
  • Monitor customer interactions across multiple channels (calls, emails, LinkedIn, and notes) to identify compliance issues and mitigate risks.
  • Support client signing and relationship-based testing, ensuring compliance throughout the sales journey.
  • Ensure adherence to American Express compliance standards, policies, and procedures for documentation, testing, and certification.

Risk Assessment & Process Improvement:

  • Identify, assess, and report operational risks while developing mitigation strategies in collaboration with business partners.
  • Conduct end-to-end process monitoring, ensuring deadlines and commitments are met.
  • Work with internal teams to enhance business monitoring, control frameworks, and risk management strategies.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Partner with internal teams, control functions, and leadership to maintain a well-controlled environment.
  • Analyze large datasets and develop reports, dashboards, and key performance metrics.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership for process improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce (preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in internal control, operational risk, internal auditing, or related fields in financial services/banking.
  • Prior knowledge of Operational Risk Management (ORM), Operational Risk Events (ORE), and Business Self-Testing (BST) is an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience with platforms such as BCMA, Outreach, One Force, SalesForce, and SharePoint is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of American Express products, procedures, and policies.

Behavioral & Leadership Skills:

  • Strategic mindset to drive process improvements and control management initiatives.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across teams to ensure a robust control environment.
  • Data-driven approach to risk assessment and reporting.
