Security Operations Team

The Security Operations team at Coinbase is at the forefront of ensuring the safety and security of billions of dollars worth of digital assets. We are actively scaling our team to protect the next billion users of crypto.

Responsibilities

As a Security Operations Team Member, you will:

Serve as the first line of response for security alerts, managing and leading incident response efforts.
Refine detection rules to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.
Create and automate runbooks for recurring incidents.
Collaborate with Trust & Safety and Threat Intelligence teams for attacker investigations.
Develop and communicate incident response strategies for emerging Web3 technologies.
Be part of an on-call rotation across multiple time zones.
Mentor peers and share knowledge across teams.
Collaborate with engineering, product development, and compliance teams on timely incident responses.

What We Look For in You

You will likely succeed in this role if:

Experience: 7+ years in security, with practical experience in incident response, malware analysis, and account compromise investigations.
You have a knack for identifying threats and measuring coverage across diverse log sources such as Multicloud, SaaS, Container Environment, and more.
Automation: You believe in automation as a force multiplier and prefer building automation over manual tasks.
You can analyze a variety of data artifacts across network and host levels.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are praised for your clarity.
Empathy: You build trust with coworkers through your problem-solving approach, being non-judgmental and helpful.
You remain calm and effective in high-pressure, intense situations.

Nice to Haves

While not required, the following will help you stand out:

A unique perspective, perhaps having taken an unconventional route into the security field.
Familiarity with blockchains and cryptocurrency.
Ability to write basic scripts and alert rules in Python and run queries in SQL/Snowflake.
Strong understanding of Cloud, SaaS technologies, and threat hunting.
Experience with OSINT, incident response in the cloud, and analyzing attacker methodologies.
Familiarity with the ATT&CK framework.
