Role Overview

As a Sales Engineer – IT Security, you will be a highly technical, customer-focused sales professional. You will collaborate with Territory Sales Managers and partners to recommend and develop security-focused solutions that align with customer needs.

This role requires a deep understanding of IT security, networking, and cybersecurity solutions, and the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences. You will lead Proof of Concept (PoC) engagements, provide technical expertise, and act as a trusted advisor for customers and partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Articulate the benefits of Menlo Security solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analyze technical requirements and architect security solutions that align with customer needs and budgets.
  • Lead Proof of Concept (PoC) engagements, including deployment, configuration, and training for Menlo Security services or software.
  • Act as a bridge between Sales and Engineering teams to address customer challenges.
  • Provide feedback on customer needs to Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams.
  • Work closely with regional partners to enable partner-led opportunities and drive business growth.
  • Support customers in expanding their Menlo Security implementations and integrations.
  • Travel overnight within the region as required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of pre-sales experience in computer networking or IT security.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with various IT and security technologies.

Technical Expertise:

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Web Proxy Technologies
  • Malware Analysis (Static, Delta, Dynamic/Runtime)
  • Host-based Forensics & Windows Internals
  • Network Forensics (Packet Capture & Analysis)
  • Email Security & Flow (Exchange/Domino, Cloud Solutions, AV, Anti-SPAM)
  • Incident Response (Evidence Gathering, Chain of Custody)
  • Sandboxing Solutions (GFI, Cuckoo, Sandboxie)
  • Network Engineering (OSI Model, IPv4/6, Routing, Switching, DNS, VLANs, Subnetting, Load Balancers)
  • Network Security (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, HTTP/SSL Proxies)
  • Enterprise Architecture (Active Directory, SCCM, LDAP/RADIUS/TACACS+, 2FA)
  • Virtualization Technologies (VMware, Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to independently prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Ability to set and manage expectations with senior stakeholders and team members.
  • Exceptional communication skills – able to articulate both business benefits and technical advantages of Menlo Security products.
  • Understanding of Menlo Security competitors (their solutions, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats).
  • Familiarity with hacking techniques, malware families, Anti-Virus/IDS/IPS evasion strategies.
