Function Description: Regulatory Reporting Team

The Regulatory Reporting Team delivers Bank Holding Company regulatory reports in compliance with Federal Reserve requirements for American Express Company and its subsidiaries. This team:

  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial reports with a strong focus on control and compliance.
  • Implements new Federal Reserve requirements, including new reports and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders, including market financial controllers, subject matter experts, legal teams, treasury, and external regulators.
  • Emphasizes talent development, work-life balance, and team recognition.

Purpose of the Role

This role is part of the Financial Reporting Cluster within the Regulatory Reporting Team. The incumbent will:

  • Prepare and file quarterly/monthly regulatory reports for the Federal Reserve and other regulators.
  • Support liquidity reporting (FR2052a) and overall liquidity reporting processes.
  • Participate in Project Fast Forward and Bank Category Change Readiness from Category IV to Category III/II bank.
  • Work on implementing changes using the Regulatory Reporting Calculation Engine (R2CE).
  • Engage with senior leadership to provide progress updates and analytical insights.

Key Responsibilities

???? Regulatory Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and file Bank Holding Company regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with Federal Reserve and internal policies.
  • Maintain adherence to internal control frameworks to ensure reporting integrity.
  • Support projects focused on automating and simplifying regulatory reporting processes.
  • Assist in responding to inquiries from the Federal Reserve, General Counsel’s Office (GCO), and other regulatory bodies.

???? Stakeholder Collaboration & Project Management

  • Work closely with Controllership, Treasury, Business Units, and Finance teams to source information and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of bank category changes.
  • Coordinate and support testing and implementation of reporting changes on the R2CE platform.

???? Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Identify and resolve reporting discrepancies by analyzing financial data and regulatory guidance.
  • Support continuous process improvement by implementing best practices and innovative solutions.

Critical Success Factors

Regulatory & Treasury Expertise

  • Strong understanding of Treasury functions, liquidity management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in Liquidity Reporting Management (LRM), Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), and Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR).

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to interpret, document, and apply regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with senior leadership and business partners.
  • Ability to explain complex regulatory requirements to stakeholders.

Project Management & Innovation

  • Experience managing regulatory projects and process automation.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

???? Education & Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA preferred.
  • At least 3+ years' experience in accounting, reporting, or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with US GAAP and financial accounting principles.

???? Technical & Platform Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle, Essbase, and R2CE architecture.

???? Industry & Business Knowledge

  • Prior experience in US Regulatory Reporting, External Reporting, or Liquidity Reporting (LCR/NSFR) is preferred.

???? Experience in financial systems and automation tools.
???? Understanding of American Express finance processes and systems.
