The Global Compliance & Ethics (GC&E) organization at American Express ensures the company’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The Director of Data Analytics and Reporting will play a key leadership role in building and overseeing an analytics program designed to analyze themes and trends in issues and complaint data. This work will enhance compliance monitoring and inform strategic decisions across the organization.
Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data from multiple sources to deliver actionable insights.
Develop recurring reports and dashboards to support GC&E in oversight of the compliance risk management program.
Define standards and deliverables to evidence a strong regulatory monitoring program.
Communicate regulatory monitoring requirements across the organization, ensuring awareness and accountability.
Present data findings in a compelling, senior-leader-ready format, clearly highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
Lead and develop a high-performing Regulatory Compliance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Create data visualizations and dashboards to simplify large data sets into meaningful intelligence.
Engage with stakeholders to tailor analytics solutions that meet their business and compliance needs.
Govern and support risk management structures, ensuring clear accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.
Assess risks during organizational or regulatory changes to avoid unintended consequences or non-compliance.
Maintain documentation and reporting systems that ensure transparency, traceability, and accountability in risk management.
Aggregate and report compliance risk exposures in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., CFPB, Federal Reserve, FDIC, OCC).
Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field required
(Master’s or JD preferred)
10+ years of experience in data analytics
Professional analytics certification preferred (e.g., CAP, DA-100, Coursera certifications)
Strong experience in regulated environments with a proven track record of improving programs and processes
Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Proficient in creating executive-level reports and conveying insights clearly
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across levels and influence stakeholders
Familiarity with regulatory requirements from agencies such as the CFPB, FRB, FDIC, and OCC
