About Global Merchant Network Services (GMNS) & Global Strategy & Capabilities (GS&C)

Global Merchant Network Services (GMNS) manages relationships with millions of merchants in over 25 countries, facilitating $1.5T+ in spend annually. The Global Strategy & Capabilities (GS&C) team’s mission is to deliver a premium merchant experience, ensuring merchants accept, welcome, and recommend American Express to their customers.

Within GS&C, the Global Policy & Standards (GPS) team develops American Express Partner and Merchant Policy, Standards, and Programs to enhance competitiveness, support new products, improve data quality, and promote compliance.


Role: Technical Writer (Policy)

Reporting to the Manager, Global Policy, this role is an exciting opportunity for a talented writer to contribute to global policies and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools, FrameMaker, and Adobe to manage day-to-day writing and publishing of policy and technical content.

  • Create, update, and maintain policy documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Generate, format, and update:

    • Books, lists, tables, master-pages, reference-pages, indexes

    • Text inserts, cross-references, markers, variables, etc.

  • Deliver high-quality technical documentation within prescribed timelines.

  • Ensure consistency in document structure, formatting, and compliance with best practices.

  • Manage multiple projects efficiently, balancing competing deadlines.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • 4+ years of experience in technical writing (preferably in financial services).

  • Advanced proficiency in FrameMaker.

  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager Guides and DITA XML framework.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing timelines.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document creation.

  • Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and work independently.

Preferred:

  • Interest in digital publishing techniques and content management systems (CMS).

  • Familiarity with American Express products and operations.

  • Experience in the payments industry.

  • Multinational and global collaboration experience.
