The objective of the Finance Control Management Risk ID, Assessment, and Testing team is to identify, assess, mitigate, and report on Operational Risk within Finance processes to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, Amex policies, and to enhance Finance’s resilience through a clear methodology of inherent and residual risk.
Role Focus:
The Analyst will focus on supplemental testing of key Finance processes, identifying potential risks, conducting thematic reviews, and providing training and recommendations to process owners. The role involves extensive collaboration across various business units, functional areas, and geographies.
Assist in identifying specific risks throughout business processes and systems, collaborating with Finance process owners.
Support control monitoring to supplement Finance process owners' testing and compile operational risk trends, activities, and events.
Proactively identify high-risk areas for intervention through automated alerts and conduct independent quality assurance and vertical process testing.
Support the preparation of thematic risk reports, including levels, trends, and root causes.
Maintain and monitor risk dashboards and key risk indicators (KRIs).
Maintain risk profiles and an updated risk register(s).
Share insights, best practices, and emerging risk themes across the organization.
1-2 years of experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit functions).
Strong understanding of operational risk management lifecycle activities.
Project management, control testing, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in process governance, ensuring alignment with policies, regulatory frameworks, and operational standards.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field; Advanced degrees (MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous.
Experience in at least one of the following:
Supporting the identification of operational risks across business processes and systems.
Facilitating risk assessment performance and contributing to further assessment and testing programs.
Supporting independent control monitoring and identifying control improvements.
Conducting independent quality assurance and process testing for high-risk areas.
Compiling thematic risk reports with actionable insights on risk levels, emerging trends, and root causes.
