As a Software Developer within Intelsat’s Enterprise Software Architecture team, your primary role will involve developing Intelsat's Next Generation business and operation support ecosystems using a strong foundation in software design, development, and enterprise architecture. You will work on distributed system applications using technologies such as Java, Oracle, Redis, and Apache Kafka. Additionally, you will have significant interaction with both business and technical stakeholders.
The role requires proactive problem-solving in ambiguous spaces, strong communication and influencing skills, and the ability to lead teams toward outcomes aligned with both business and IT goals.
Distributed System Development: Work as a developer on a team developing distributed system applications using Java, Oracle, Redis, and Apache Kafka.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with leadership and subject matter experts to build a comprehensive view of the organization's strategy, processes, and technology assets.
Holistic IT Strategy Alignment: Align IT plans with business needs and produce architecture artifacts (roadmaps, standards, guidelines, best practices).
External Client Partnerships: Work with external clients to ensure the architecture meets their IT and business needs.
Problem Solving & Judgement: Develop solutions to complex problems by exercising judgment, determining dependencies, and managing resources.
System Integration: Address architectural differences between solution methods and integrate solutions built on various platforms.
Industry Trends Application: Stay current with major IT and industry trends, applying them to new initiatives and capability roadmaps.
5+ years of professional software development experience.
3+ years of experience in designing and architecting systems to scale.
3+ years of hands-on experience with distributed systems using Java, Oracle, Redis, and NoSQL technologies.
3+ years of experience integrating systems using REST APIs and Kafka.
2+ years of experience deploying and supporting containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
1+ years of experience with workflow orchestration.
1+ years of experience in Satellite Communications and/or Telecommunications technologies.
Experience working in an agile environment using scrum methodology.
Full understanding of standards for all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
Ability to define alternatives, make recommendations, and provide strategies for resolving platform-level issues.
Creative, proactive, and eager to learn new technologies.
Strong Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with peers, leadership, and stakeholders.
