About the Team

The Operations Center team at Wayfair is essential to keeping our systems stable, scalable, and production-ready. We’re a group of engineers focused on both platform enablement and software performance, working across tech functions to improve observability, availability, and reliability of systems.

We value cloud-native design, thoughtful legacy maintenance, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles—and we’re looking for experienced engineers with a passion for DevOps to join us.

What You’ll Do

Design, build, and maintain cloud-native systems with a focus on efficiency, observability, and scalability.
Work closely with product and engineering teams from Day 1 of design through deployment and support.
Help shape the cloud enablement journey, maintaining legacy tools and implementing best-in-class modern architecture.
Collaborate across teams to optimize systems and drive shared DevOps practices between software and platform engineering.
Define and implement SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets; ensure services are reliable by design.
Build self-healing, automated systems and provide production support for mission-critical environments.
Develop tooling and processes to automate repetitive tasks and reduce human error.
Mentor other engineers via code reviews, tech talks, and pair programming.
Participate in a shared on-call schedule to ensure system uptime and rapid incident resolution.

What You’ll Need

6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or software engineering with strong infrastructure knowledge.
Proficiency in cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
Solid experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong skills in server-side programming (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Bash).
Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, and performance monitoring tools.
Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Expertise in monitoring systems, tracing instrumentation, and defining SLIs/SLOs.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and roles.
Experience decoupling monolithic architectures is a plus.

Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional DevOps initiatives.
Strong ability to influence design decisions and drive cross-team alignment.
Background in mentoring engineers and improving technical practices across organizations.
