Job Description

The United Nations Department of Global Communications is looking for interns interested in newsroom operations, multimedia production, and news writing in Hindi. This internship will provide hands-on experience in drafting, translating, fact-checking, and content creation for the UN Newsroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft Hindi news articles by integrating and translating information from official sources like press releases, statements, and resolutions.
  • Proofread news articles before and after publication.
  • Conduct fact-checking and background research.
  • Assist in the creation of multimedia content (audio, visual, and graphic).
  • Work on feature stories, including research, interviews, and writing.
  • Collaborate with the UN Partnerships Unit to review databases and explore new partnerships with digital media and fact-checking organizations.
  • Perform other tasks related to outreach and communications as assigned.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:

  1. Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (Master’s degree or higher) in:
    • Communication, Journalism, International Relations, Public Administration, English, or Translation Studies.
  2. Be enrolled in or have completed the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.

Additionally, candidates must:

  • Demonstrate a strong interest in the work of the United Nations.
  • Commit to UN values and display cultural sensitivity in working with diverse groups.
  • Be computer-literate, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Not be the child or sibling of a UN staff member.
