The MEP Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and management of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. This includes developing policies, standards, inspection procedures, and evaluation tools while preparing, reviewing drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.

As a key part of the project management team, the MEP Engineer reports to the Project Director and oversees all aspects related to building services. The role includes managing the MEP team, consisting of Lead Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, and MEP Inspectors, ensuring professional execution of tasks to maintain project progress.

Responsibilities & Duties

Design & Planning:

✔ Review plans and specifications for compliance with project requirements.
✔ Prepare detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates for plumbing, HVAC, ventilation, and piping systems.
✔ Identify and resolve design-related issues and provide technical solutions.
✔ Ensure compliance with LEED standards and coordinate necessary documentation.

Project Management & Execution:

✔ Oversee the work of subordinate staff, architects, and engineers.
✔ Plan, organize, and evaluate the work of consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
✔ Manage day-to-day activities of the MEP team.
✔ Ensure proper documentation and filing of MEP-related materials in line with the project handbook.
✔ Continually review the contractor’s construction schedule and report progress.

Technical Oversight & Coordination:

✔ Review contractor’s installation method statements and shop drawings for compliance.
✔ Coordinate with structural and electrical engineers for engineering synchronization.
✔ Provide technical clarifications to resolve site construction issues.
✔ Evaluate contractor’s mechanical services material proposals based on technical specifications.
✔ Conduct general site inspections to ensure adherence to design and specifications.
✔ Monitor and enforce health and safety compliance on-site.

Testing, Commissioning & Quality Assurance:

✔ Witness piped system pressure tests, duct leakage tests, and other inspections.
✔ Oversee final testing, commissioning, and performance evaluation of mechanical systems.
✔ Maintain and track MEP defects, ensuring contractor remedial action.
✔ Conduct final project snagging and prepare defect lists.

Meetings & Documentation:

✔ Attend project, site progress, and technical meetings related to MEP services.
✔ Draft and issue site instructions concerning mechanical services.
✔ Provide cost analysis and advise the Project Director on potential variable costs claimed by contractors.
✔ Review and comment on the Contractor’s Operations and Maintenance Manuals.

Qualifications & Skills

???? Education:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

???? Experience & Knowledge:
✔ 2+ years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering.
✔ Hands-on experience in construction procedures and practices.
✔ Working knowledge of plans, prints, specifications, and schematics.
✔ Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management software.
