A Snapshot of Your Days

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will represent Siemens Energy’s Commissioning Group on global project assignments. You will work on large-scale energy projects such as world-class, low-emission power plants, grid stabilizing systems, and battery energy storage systems. In this role, you will commission individual components or entire systems, ensuring the highest quality of service. Additionally, your feedback to the engineering team will help continuously improve Siemens Energy products.

How You’ll Make an Impact

International Travel: Willingness to travel globally for extended periods (up to one year).
Testing & Commissioning:
- Hardware (HW) Design Check: Perform electrical tests on control & protection (C&P) cubicles.
- Network Infrastructure: Conduct offsite testing (FPT) and onsite testing & commissioning of TCP-based network infrastructure (uploading software, testing files, and conducting function tests).
- SCADA & HMI Systems: Test SCADA-level components and HMI systems, ensuring correct signaling, alarming, and monitoring.
- Signal Synchronization: Verify signal suppliers, time synchronization, and local/remote signal converters.
- Functional & Dynamic Performance Testing: Conduct and document station/system tests alongside customers, coordinating with the Testing Lead & Commissioning Team.
IT-Security & Quality Management:
- Ensure compliance with policy-based IT security rules in critical infrastructure.
- Identify, resolve, and document system malfunctions, weak points, and areas for improvement.
- Revise drawings (Redmarks) and test documentation.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow occupational health & safety (EHS) regulations.
- Support commissioning teams with troubleshooting and communication interfaces.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

Degree:
- Bachelor’s (B.Eng. / B.Sc.) in Electrical Systems, IT, or Communication Engineering.
- Completed Electrical Apprenticeship.
Experience: Hands-on experience working with computer & communication systems.

Technical Skills

Basic IT Knowledge: Understanding of computer systems, domains, IP-based networks, and IT security.
Programming & Visualization: Basic knowledge of programming and process visualization.
Communication Systems: Familiarity with IEC 61850 standards.
Quality & Safety Compliance: Experience in quality management, change/claim management, and project progress reporting.

Soft Skills

Independence: Ability to work remotely or on-site at high-voltage substations.
Problem-Solving: Systematic troubleshooting skills.
Teamwork & Communication: Strong collaboration and intercultural sensitivity.
Flexibility: Willing to learn and adapt in dynamic work environments.
Certifications: Valid Indian and/or International Driving License.
