Job Title: Frontend Engineer (JavaScript/React)

Location: 100% Remote (Available to applicants from the US, Canada, most countries in LATAM and Europe, and selected countries in Africa and Asia)
Job Type: Contractual / Temporary

Overview:

Join our expert annotation team to create training data for the world's most advanced AI models. No previous AI experience is necessary. This is an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door with one of the most prominent players in the AI/LLM space today. We are seeking JavaScript/React developers with 3+ years of experience to help train large AI language models—focusing on helping generative AI models write better frontend code. We currently have 200+ roles open!

What Will I Be Doing?

Evaluate AI-Generated Code:
- Assess the quality of AI-generated code and provide human-readable summaries of your rationale.
Build and Evaluate React Components:
- Develop React components, hooks, and modern JavaScript solutions.
Solve Coding Problems:
- Write functional and efficient JavaScript/React code to solve coding challenges.
Write Test Cases:
- Write robust test cases to ensure code functions efficiently and effectively.
Create Instructions and Review Code:
- Help create instructions to assist others and review code before it’s incorporated into the model.
Variety of Projects:
- Engage in a range of projects—from evaluating code snippets to developing full mobile applications using chatbots.

Pay Rates and Compensation:

Compensation:
Pay rates vary based on location and experience, with hourly pay calculated based on time spent on the platform, as detailed in the provided document.
Working Hours:
- Expectation: 15+ hours per week, with the flexibility to work as much as you want.
- You’ll be paid weekly based on the hours you log working on the platform.
Contract Length:
- This is a long-term contract with no end date. We anticipate ongoing work for the next 2 years. You may end the contract at any time, but we hope you commit to 12 months of work.

Flexible Schedules:

Developers can set their own hours.
Ideal candidates will aim for 40 hours per week but are encouraged to stay flexible, adapt to project urgency, and remain engaged. There is flexibility to take breaks, such as a 3-hour lunch.

Interview Process:

RLHF Code Review:
- If you're a good fit, we'll send an async RLHF code review to be completed within 72 hours.
Group Call and Onboarding:
- We'll provide credentials for the RLHF platform and schedule a group call to answer questions about the onboarding process.
Simulated Task:
- You’ll perform a simulated production-level task on the platform, which serves as your final interview. Success in this task opens the opportunity to join our projects.

Tech Stack Priorities:

Frontend Engineers with expertise in JavaScript, React, and modern web development frameworks/libraries are our current priority.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:
- 3+ years in a software engineering/software development role.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency with JavaScript/React and frontend development.
- Fluent English—ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and engagingly.
- Excellent attention to detail and understanding of grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines.

Nice To Haves:

Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science.
Experience with Modern Frameworks:
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks like Next.js, Vue, Angular.
Testing Frameworks:
- Experience with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress.
State Management:
- Knowledge of state management solutions like Redux, Context API, MobX.
TypeScript & Frontend Tooling:
- Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend tools.
Community Contributions:
- Recognized accomplishments in coding communities or projects.
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Proven ability to approach problems creatively and analytically.
Communication Skills:
- Adept communication skills to discuss project requirements and technical topics.
