Function Overview

As part of the Technology team, we develop planning, forecasting, and reporting solutions for the organization. Our core solutions are implemented on platforms including IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), Cognos BI, OBIEE, and Tableau. We serve a wide range of customers—from corporate planning teams to investment optimization and risk finance groups.


Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining solutions on the IBM Planning Analytics toolset – TM1. This role is critical in managing multiple financial processes (e.g., Reporting, Planning & Forecasting, Long Range Planning, Investment Optimization) by leveraging the TM1 platform to drive efficiency, control, and innovation in financial close processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Process Management:

    • Manage multiple financial processes such as reporting, planning & forecasting, long range planning, and investment optimization using IBM Cognos TM1.
    • Design, build, and implement new financial processes or enhance existing ones by leveraging the TM1 platform.
    • Consistently improve current financial processes through automation and enhanced controls by adopting best practices and new capabilities.
  • Platform & Process Optimization:

    • Contribute to assessing and improving the impact of various processes on the platform/server.
    • Identify opportunities to drive value by leveraging both existing and new capabilities.
    • Work independently with customers to manage expectations regarding ongoing support, enhancements, and new solution implementations.
  • Training & Troubleshooting:

    • Provide training and support for team members and business partners.
    • Troubleshoot issues and ensure that financial integrity is maintained by reviewing financial data and resolving discrepancies.
  • Collaboration & Leadership:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly Finance and Technology, to understand and resolve issues that may impact close timelines.
    • Support external and internal auditors by addressing queries and meeting quarterly review requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: BE/BTech (or equivalent)
  • Experience: 5-8 years of development experience on IBM Planning Analytics – TM1
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and a collaborative team mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Financial Accounting/Reporting
  • Understanding of financial consolidation and related complexities
  • Project management experience is an added advantage

Technical Skills & Capabilities

  • Core Technical Competencies:

    • Extensive experience in designing, building, and managing technology solutions for finance processes using IBM Cognos TM1.
    • Strong hands-on experience with TI processes, rules, and websheets.
    • Experience in building and supporting Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW) reports & dashboards.
    • Proficiency in Planning Analytics for Excel (PAX) for creating Excel-based financial reports.
  • Platform Knowledge:

    • IBM Planning Analytics, IBM Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW), and Planning Analytics for Excel (PAX)
    • Good understanding of financial reporting, planning, and forecasting principles
  • Analytical Skills:

    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with an eye for process improvement and data integrity
