We are expanding our Connectors & Integrations team to strengthen Avalara’s market leadership. We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Director of Engineering to lead a team in developing ERP & eCommerce platform integrations for our tax compliance solutions.

What You’ll Do

???? Leadership & Strategy

Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on building integrations for ERPs & eCommerce platforms
Translate product vision & requirements into market-leading technology solutions
Drive innovation & automation in tax compliance technology

???? Development & Integration

Build a suite of integrations for Avalara’s cloud-native tax platform
Ensure solutions are flexible, scalable, and high-performance
Develop RESTful APIs, JSON, XML integrations for various systems
Implement authentication protocols (OAuth, token-based authentication)

???? Agile & DevOps Practices

Lead development using Agile methodologies (TDD, BDD)
Leverage AWS Cloud & DevOps tools (Terraform, Docker, ECS)

What You’ll Need to Succeed

✔ Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
✔ 15+ years of experience in full-stack software development
✔ Expertise in Object-Oriented Programming
✔ Strong background in ERP & eCommerce system architectures, APIs & data models
✔ Experience in authentication mechanisms (OAuth, token-based authentication)
✔ Proficiency in RESTful APIs & data interchange formats (JSON, XML)
✔ Hands-on experience in Agile teams, TDD & BDD
✔ Knowledge of AWS Cloud & DevOps tools is a plus
