Role Overview: Database Administrator (IMS & DB2 z/OS)

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, maintaining, and securing mission-critical IMS v15 and DB2 z/OS v12 databases supporting key business applications.

Key Responsibilities

✔️ Database Design & Optimization

Participate in design review meetings and assist in converting logical models into physical database models.
Re-engineer & optimize mainframe database access paths for performance improvements.
Assist in redesigning large databases and deploying new features for improved scalability.

✔️ Database Administration & Security

Perform backup, reorganization, and database error resolution.
Administer database security in compliance with organizational and industry standards.
Support & maintain databases for mission-critical applications like WCC Services, Acquisitions, Remittances, Accounts Receivable, Merchant, Loyalty, Corporate, etc.

✔️ Automation & Modernization

Utilize BMC Admin tools, IBM Data Studio, and IBM Visual Studio for automation and LIFT & SHIFT tasks.
Drive application migration from z/OS to modern technologies/Cloud.
Spearhead database upgrades, including migration to Universal Table Spaces for petabyte-scale data growth.

✔️ Database Maintenance & High Availability

Develop and implement automated database reorganization procedures to improve availability.
Manage synchronization and refresh of IMS & DB2 data warehouses across development, test, and production environments.
Prepare and upgrade databases for zDb2 Version 13 deployment.

Required Qualifications

???? Education:

Preferably a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

???? Experience & Technical Skills:

Expertise in IMS v15 and DB2 z/OS v12.
Hands-on experience with IBM & BMC utilities for IMS & DB2 databases.
Experience working with IMS Full Function (FF) and Fast Path (FP) databases.
Strong knowledge of mainframe database administration, performance tuning, and automation.
Familiarity with modernization efforts, cloud migrations, and high-volume database environments.
