Job Summary

The Assistant Engineering Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the property. This includes building, grounds, and physical plant maintenance with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. The role also involves budget management, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Additionally, the role includes leading the emergency response team for all facility-related issues.

Candidate Profile

???? Education & Experience:
✅ Option 1: High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in engineering, maintenance, or a related professional field, with technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing.
✅ Option 2: A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major (no experience required).

Core Responsibilities

Engineering Operations & Budget Management

✅ Assist in managing physical plant operations, including HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical systems, and water treatment.
✅ Ensure regulatory compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
✅ Control heat, light, and power usage to implement energy-efficient methods.
✅ Develop and manage service contracts to support facility needs.
✅ Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and monitor task completion quality.
✅ Assist in maintaining guestrooms, public spaces, recreational areas, and property vehicles.
✅ Develop and execute a long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plan.
✅ Coordinate with contractors for project bidding and ensure completion within budget.
✅ Maintain positive relationships with external authorities such as zoning departments, fire prevention bureaus, and vendors.
✅ Conduct monthly property inspections to ensure high facility standards.
✅ Arrange for additional services such as painting, renovation, repairs, and equipment replacements.
✅ Manage parts and equipment inventory.

Property Standards & Safety Compliance

✅ Ensure building and equipment certifications are current.
✅ Maintain life safety systems, including firefighting equipment, sprinklers, and alarms.
✅ Oversee the training of fire crew to ensure complete understanding of procedures.

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

✅ Provide leadership in guest hospitality to create a positive experience.
✅ Establish guidelines for staff to ensure high service standards.
✅ Review guest feedback and take corrective actions to improve service quality.
✅ Continuously strive to enhance service performance.
