About the Role

The Red Hat Developer Experience team is seeking an Associate Software Quality Engineer in Bengaluru, India. In this role, you will help shape the best Red Hat Developer Hub experience, translating customer use cases into test requirements and developing innovative automated testing solutions.

As part of this team, you will gain hands-on experience with Red Hat's continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes and toolchain, working with technologies like Backstage, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Tekton, Playwright, Cypress, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop automation frameworks, automated tests, and quality checks within CI/CD processes.
  • Analyze and propose test automation strategies for both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure continued quality assurance of existing features and evaluate new features.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including architecture, support, documentation, and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience:

  • 1+ year of experience in UI test automation (Playwright, Cypress, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Playwright, Cypress, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with containers, CI/CD pipelines, Tekton, and Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with Linux and shell scripting (variables, flow control, positional parameters).

Technical Expertise:

  • Ability to develop test plans for releases and identify potential quality risks.
  • Knowledge of different testing strategies (unit tests, integration tests, end-to-end tests) and their trade-offs.

Preferred Skills (Bonus Points)

  • Knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes and Backstage.
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects.
  • Prior experience working in a distributed team environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with development and build tools (TypeScript, Git, Webpack, Yarn).
  • Knowledge of Node.js, Python, and Golang.
