Job Summary

The Assistant Engineering Manager assists in managing all engineering and maintenance operations for the property, including building upkeep, grounds maintenance, and asset protection. This role focuses on safety, security, and regulatory compliance while supporting budget management, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. Additionally, the role involves leading the emergency response team for all facility-related issues.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

✔ Option 1: High school diploma or GED + 2 years of experience in engineering/maintenance or a related professional field with technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing.
✔ Option 2: 2-year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major (No prior experience required).

Core Responsibilities

Engineering Operations & Budget Management

???? Assist in managing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
???? Ensure regulatory compliance with safety and facility regulations.
???? Monitor heat, light, and power usage, recommending energy-efficient methods.
???? Oversee preventative maintenance and timely repair work completion.
???? Maintain grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities.
???? Develop long-term maintenance and asset protection plans.
???? Coordinate with contractors for bidding and construction projects, ensuring they meet budgetary guidelines.
???? Maintain relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., city zoning departments, fire prevention bureaus, vendors).

Property Standards & Maintenance

???? Ensure building and equipment licenses & certifications remain up to date.
???? Maintain life safety systems (firefighting equipment, sprinkler & alarm systems).
???? Perform monthly property inspections for maintenance excellence.
???? Conduct guestroom and common area inspections for quality assurance.
???? Recommend or arrange for renovations, repairs, and equipment replacements.
???? Manage parts and equipment inventory.

Customer Service & Guest Satisfaction

???? Lead guest hospitality efforts, ensuring excellent service standards.
???? Set clear expectations and guidelines for staff.
???? Review guest feedback (comment cards, satisfaction surveys) to identify improvement areas.
???? Collaborate with property leadership to implement service enhancements.
